PAYE for partnership

My husband and I have a partnership, can I start paying myself through PAYE as an employee?

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Hi

If you are a partner in the partnership then you are self-employed and will be taxed on the profit shown on the partnership tax return, you will then take your ratio of profit as shown in the partnership agreement and submit your own self assessment with these figures

Thank you for your replies and I'm aware of all you've said but the powers that be at the Childcare Services suggested that I should pay myself through PAYE, minimum wage at 16 hrs a week, to enable me to claim 30 Hours free childcare! Doesn't sound right to me?!

Hi Jill

The person at Childcare Services who gave you the information has their facts wrong.

The misunderstanding has been cleared up, they thought I was a director.

Which makes them double idiots for assuming.

Just shows how dangerous such folk can be when giving avice they know nothing about Jill.

On so many levels (even if you had been a director! NMW opens up a hornests nest for participator).

Businessowners often lose out on such, but are criticised by the masses for daring to extract profits!
