This is probably a very silly question but can you reclaim VAT on concert tickets?  I am thinking probably not but I can't find a definate answer and my mind has gone blank, it's been a long day!

Generally a concert ticket would not be allowable as a business expense, and thus you would not be able to reclaim any VAT. There however always exceptions - e.g. you are a freelance music reviewer perhaps! smile

All the best,

Man

The client who bought it is in the recruitment business and took a client out for the evening to try and get business from him, does that count???

Yes, in that case I would post the expense to your enteraining account, and reclaim the input VAT.

Hi,
I was under the impression that Vat on business entertaining is not deductable other than Vat on entertaining staff.
Here is a link to the relevant info ...
