Practising accountant and accountant

Hi everybody:

Happy new year.

I am bit confuss between accountant and practising accountant. Can anybody tell me what is the difference between them?

Jenny,

In this instance not really significant. Clearly there are accountants who work inside businesses and do not therefore offer their services externally, these are generally NOT in practise even though they are qualified.
The High street type accountants are in practice, they need a practising certificate from their accrediting institutes ie ICAEW,ACCA,CIMA,CIFPA
