Hi all, We are trying to find clients but are struggling to find new ways to market our services. We want to be manual bookkeepers, just using paper and excel spreadsheets because we can't afford the other software. We are charging fixed fees. can it work?
I believe it can definitely work because the firm of accountants I work for prepare all their book-keeping jobs on Excel. They also charge fixed fees for the book-keeping and review their charge on an annual basis. They do have Sage Line 50 but they only use it to extract the information for clients using the software at the year end.
In my experience Excel is a really quick and efficient way to enter information, and is more user friendly and customisable than Sage. Sage has advantages when it comes to keeping customer and supplier ledgers, but it is possible to do this on Excel using correct book-keeping procedures. A lot of book-keepers that we receive records from soley use Excel so you're in good company. Best of luck.
Thanks edward, we are both qualifed and just want the business to work well. We started in january and have had a few enquiries but no work yet, but we are really pushing it in march.
