This is my first post in this forum.I am planning to go for The AAT Bookkeeping Certificate (ABC).Is it necessary to get registered with any training provider or I can study on my own and get registered for assessment only. What is the difficulty level does it really require any tutor support? Also it would be nice if anyone can give pointers on its equivalance to IAB Bookkeeping course.
I'm doing the AAT certificate at the moment and I recommend it fully. I have the ICB Level I qualification but the AAT one goes much further; covers most of the level II syllabus. If you pass the exam, you are exempted from the first level of the AAT Accounting Technician qualification..if you wanted to go that route that is. The course is written with a view to being used by those with no knowledge of bookkeeping/accounts or those with bookkeeping experience but no recognised qualification.
If you wished to have the IAB qualifications, it's worth finding out from them if it exempts you from sitting any of their papers.
You dont have to pay a registration fee to anyone either, just buy the course, contact the AAT when you are ready to sit the exam, they'll find a centre local to and you just pay for the exam.
Just wish I'd done this course instead of the ICB one! We live and learn eh?
