I'm looking around at options to run my own bookkeeping or accountancy business and I've come across a company called 'BookCheck' and wondered if anyone has heard of them?
Does anyone else here run a bookkeeping franchise, or does anyone have any experience of one?
I've certainly heard of BookCheck as they are a member with us, though I know very little about the franchise operation itself.
I may be wrong but I understand it is franchised as a business that can provide the bookkeeping service for the franchisee.
You'll have to consider what you want out of a franchise. Is it the support service, the systems in place or possibly the name and ongoing marketing?
I know there are a few bookkeeping/accounting franchises around, so if you are looking at a franchise rather than setting up independently do compare some to see which will give you the most value for your situation.
Although I don't know any franchisees in person, one of our clients does use BookCheck to do their bookkeeping. The books are completed on Sage Line 50 and I have to say to a very high standard. Had a peek at their website and it looks professional.
As John quite rightly said there are a few bookkeeping franchises around so do your research to make sure it's a route you want to go down.
In addition to the franchises Mike mentioned, there is another bookkeeping franchise called '80:20 Financial Management' which goes for £19,750+VAT. Their website is www.8020franchise.com. Other than that the only others are really accountancy franchises (TaxAssist and CerTax).

I've written off to BookCheck for more details as I have experience with Sage Line 50 and this one may fit my skill set better. I also intend to contact The Local Book-keeper franchisor as well to compare.
