Hi,

I'm new to the forum. Have been reading through a few topics and found it all very useful and interesting! I am a qualified bookkeeper and also AAT qualified. With one years experience in practice. I am at home at the moment with my one year old (and expecting my second!) Wanting to start my own business but lack confidence due to minimal experience. After reading the forums have decided to go through accountants for sub contracting work. Anyone doing this...wondering what the rates are?

Mariam

Hi Mariam

I do some subcontract bookkeeping for two firms of accountants and I currently charge £15 per hour. This is less than I charge my own clients but I needed to be competitive to obtain work in the first place. Its working well at the moment and I keep getting referrals so I must be doing something right!

Best of luck with both family and work!!smile

Hey Peter, I was just wondering if you could please explain what it is you actually do (from start to finish) for the accounts companies?

I've heard about a firm that are looking for bookkeepers but am abit worried that I wouldn't be up to it!

Many Thanks in advance

Hi Mariam,

I'm in a similar position to you - except that my children are grown up and I have a brand new grandchild now.

I have qualifications and several years experience and would like to 'go solo' but am not sure that I have the confidence to do so.

I'm from Suffolk, and guess that you must be too from your ID.

Best of luck with family and business.

Accounts Girl 53.
