I am thinking of studying AAT course with a view to starting as a self employed bookkeeper / accountant within 3 years or so. Realistically, what level/range of income could I reasonably expect (DERBYS) ?
Seriously, it all depends upon what level of service you are going to provide. If it is straightforward bookkeeping for example, find out what the the going rate is in your area and times that by the number of hours you are prepared to work per week/month, that should give you a rough idea.
You could add in extras such as year end preparation, self assessment and even possible software training to boost your income.
