If you can obtain all the information that you need to complete a set of books online via ebay and Paypal, I am assuming that I will still need to print everything off and keep a paper record?  Is this correct?

If you have the electronic file, the same as any printout - that is sufficient for records and there's no reason to print it out... just a waste of paper, ink and storage space.

What you should do though is have your own records stored and not rely on eBay, PayPal or any other sites to retain your information for you. So export any necessary reports to PDF.

And remember to keep a backup of the records - preferably stored away from our PC (in case of fire/theft)

Thank you for the advice.

Yes, my first client is an ebay power seller. I am meeting him this afternoon and hoping that all goes smoothly

I met with the client and it went really well. He is now my first client. I explained that I was new to bookkeeping and he is happy for me to work for him. It is a great first experience to be honest as he is very friendly and easy to talk to and he understands that I am just starting out and is happy for me to muddle through in my own time. I think that I am doing a better job than he at first anticipated and he has mentioned briefly about giving me some of his admin tasks so everything is goigng well at the moment, thank you for asking.

Terri
