Payroll - moving employees from weekly pay to monthly pay
Permalink Closed

Hi - has anyone ever done this?? Any issues I should be aware of??

Will be phasing in the change - going fortnightly first then monthly.

Am using Sage Payroll - is it easy enough to make the changes???

Thanks in advance - Raven x

I did exactly this a few months using Sage Instant Payroll and to be honest found it a very smooth process.

I am wracking my brains to think of anything that i should tell you but i cant seem to remember anything that went wrong, just remember to change the frequency of payment from weekly to monthly.

Nigel.

Thanks Nigel - so once the last weekly payment has been made and updated on sage payroll, was it then that you changed the payment frequency?

It certainly appears to be quite simple which is why I'm a little cautious!!!

Thanks - Raven

Yes, change it once the last weekly run is done, and also change the actual salary to reflect monthly instead of weekly salary.

Nigel.

Hi There,

I am considering in work to change payment frequencies from 4 weekly to monthly. I guess it should be straight forward like you have said for you.

Well, it's now 6 weeks since I broke the news to the staff and there were some concerns..!

Mostly it was down to people worried about the fact that they would now have to manage their own money, rather than rely on the weekly input of funds to their bank accounts..!

They all had their last weekly pay at the end of June and their next pay day is next week (decided on one fortnightly payment then monthly). I haven't had anyone calling saying they can't cope so I assume it's all going ok at the moment..!

Sage Payroll has been updated to fortnightly pay period for the next two payments then it'll be changed to monthly.. All going smoothly at the moment...!!!

Keep you posted.

Hi raven

Thanks for keeping us updated, it is useful to know that it can be done easily as eventhough I don't need to do it right now, I am sure that there will be some time in the future when I have to.

Regards
Mark

Also at my work everyone is eventually happy with changing from 4 weekly to monthly, obviously its not too much of a jump but a couple of people didnt like it at first!. It isn't going to actually change until jan 09 because that is when the 4 weekly pay lands on the end of the month, and from then on it will be monthly, so that will give people plenty of notice.
