Name idea's

Hi

This is probably a stupid question but is actually something that is going over and over in my head and is becomig a real stumbling block.

How on earth do you name your bookkeeping business?

I have someone lined up to do my stationery graphics but they cannot start without a name.

Initials seem like little thought has been made, 'GPM bookkeeping services'..... not very interesting, but then again a play on accounting words doesn't seem to fit either.

I can see that I will settle with the one that looks like no thought has been made although I have been thinking about it for weeks. I have tried the dictionary, the theasaurus, latin names for bookkeeping and searched the web.

Apologies for those of you with initials for your business name, you probably have nicer initials than me!

And I thought it was hard naming the children!!!

Any ideas as to how you overcome the problem.

Hi

I understand what you say about using initials, but to be honest it is very difficult coming up with a name and at least by using your initials people know exactly who you are.

I was in the same predicament as you so I kept it simple by using my initials.

Hope this helps

biggrin

HI

When I started my business I was advised not to use anything connected to my name or my initials, because if you want to sell your business in the future as a going concern you would not want your name/initials being used by someone else.

Thank you for your replies. A good point Alison about using your initials BUT how do you find another suitable name.

How did you come up with yours and are you allowed to say what it is?

I can see that initials will used as it will be the only name I can think of, although thats thanks to my parents not me!!!! See, it looks like no thought whatsoever has gone into it from my part!

I'll keep trying and hope inspiration hits me on the head.

Many thanks again, please keep the ideas coming.

Hi Gerry

I used part of our street name for our business name.

I have used the local area I live in as my business name, not the town name just the bit local to me.

I used A1 Bookkeeping so that my business would be one of the first ones to be advertised alphabetically in the Yellow Pages, Thomson etc My initials TH Bookkeeping would have been right down at the bottom

Good luck coming up with a name and let us know what you decide

I wanted a name that wasnt too long so eg. when answering the phone it isn't too much of a mouthful. I also wanted it to say something about what the company does. I ended up with the name 1st Stop Accounts because I also liked the sound of it and it grew on me the more I heard it. You will know when you have thought of the correct name for you.
