I have had the following message from my Nephew - any reading material suggestions would be appreciated as I have been in the business too long to remember where to start!
"my friend is looking to open a games shop in weymouth with help from his dad financially to start with. we maybe thought it would be an idea if i looked at how to do some basic book keeping as if this happens there is a chance i will be going to help him run it. i was wondering if you could give any advice on the subject such as what books to get from the library to read on the subject"
There is "The Dummies guide to book-keeping" It sounds derogatory but contains the basics for someone wanting to keep books for their own small business.
I have just started and was recommended 'business accounts' by David Cox, i got it second hand from Amazon for £8.00. Have only had it a week but have dipped into it and it looks practical and easy to understand. Interesting about the dummies guide, i'll be looking into that one too. Good luck to your nephew. gerry
Since you are posting here, I would suggest you google for "online bookkeeping courses" or similar terms. I have came across quite a number of websites that offer free bookkeeping courses which I personally think is quite helpful and practical.
