Hi all. I have just taken my ICB Basic, and am looking to take Level 2 Computerised pretty soon. I run my own bookeeping buisness, so don't really see the need to do the Level 2 Manual, (even though the ICB recommend it! - I took AAT a few years ago, and passed all stages at manual, so feel reasonably confident in that area!) Anyway, my Sage Line 50 is about 3 years old now. I need to upgrade it, but can't really afford to at the moment. So my question is, will I be able to do the Level 2 and 3 computerised papers on an old version of Sage. Do you have to upload their data, or is it just a case of posting opening entries? I'd hate to get the papers, and then discover my software wasn't compatable! Many thanks.

I did my computerised exams recently and at level 2 they send you a disc with opening balances based on Sage Instant Accounts but I have read that some people on versions earlier than V.11 have had some problems getting them to transfer. From memory I believe you are asked to run the restore procedure from the file menu to get the data onto your computer and that's when the problem occurs with compatability.
Been desperately looking for my exam papers to see if they list the opening balances but I can't find then at the mo but I don't think they do. I will carry on looking!!
I did mine using Instant Accounts V.14 and had no probs.
Found my old exam paper filed away for safe keeping!
The instruction say that there is a restore version on the disc for Sage software from V.8 and another for V.12 onwards. Ther is also a PDF file of opening balances
Hi - How does the actual computerised level 2 and 3 work - I'm guessing that it won't use one of the client licences, but will run almost like a demo version?? I am going to order the past paper of this one in the next week or so - hopefully will find out a bit more then.
