If someone has a tax allowance for business mileage i.e. they claimed a large amount of business mileage each year, so their tax code is alterred to reflect this, what happens if they do not claim as many business miles to equate to the allowance in a tax year? I assume they will be liable for a bill?
My partner lost her job 2/3 of the way through the year, and is owed a tax rebate, but needs to submit the mileage claimed during that year, so I am guessing that this will reduce the rebate?
Hello Andy Take a look at your partners Tax Code to see exactly WHAT it is relating to that tax year . How much free pay is allowed in the particular taxYear Have a word with the HMRC Paye department which dealt with your partners tax affairs and explain all the business mileage have not been claimed. Without knowing what the yearly tax code has been changed to it is not possible to know what free pay you are entitled to. BUT IF YOU HAVE THE MILEAGE DETAILS SUBMIT THEM to the HMRC.
