Client birthday etiquette

Hi,

This is probably one of the, if not the, strangest question on here, but my client's birthday is coming up and I am wondering whether it would be good or bad business etiquette to post him a birthday card, obviously not a funny one that could be taken the wrong way.

What do you guys do?

Terri

HI Terri

I don't send client birthday cards but if I am organised enough at Christmas normally send clients a christmas card.

Hi Terri,

I personally think sending clients birthdays cards as being a bit too personal ! Best to leave the cards until Christmas when everyone gets one. Bear in mind the need to keep a professional business relationship with your client - you dont want any wrong signals / impressions being sent out !

Thanks Julie, that's what I was worried about - I wanted to come across as professional but wasn't sure if sending one would be a personal touch? Thank you, I will stick to christmas cards

I agree with Julie. I think christmas cards are a nice touch, but birthday cards I think maybe going a bit too personal !
