Voluntary Work - Showing Cost
Permalink Closed

Hi All!

I do the accounts on a voluntary basis for a local sports club. They would like to show how much this would cost in the accounts, if I charged.

I could enter this as a cost in expenses, and a balancing donation in income.

But - I obviously don't want to do this if I had to put it through my accounts as income, as though I had given them an invoice.

Is there a ruling on this, does anyone know? Could anyone point me to the relevant section on the HMRC site?

Many thanks
Babs

I would imagine you could only put something in the accounts that is an actual cost that has been or will have a monetary value, especially if it is a charity as you are then regulated by the charities commission.
