brought forward april 07   3171
profit for the year             11211
drawings                          -16599

any help would be greatly appreciated

Well it will be a negative figure 'cos the drawings are more than the b/f and the profit.

if you are saying the balances are
b/f CR 3171
NP CR 11211
Draw DR 16599

then yes the c/f will be DR 2217

Just means they have taken out more than they have earned.
