Sage Advice Please
Permalink Closed

I currently work at a clients premises one day a week but there is more work that needs to be done and I figure that a lot of it I can do from home and my client is happy for me to do this.

At the moment, my client uses Sage 50, so I was thinking that I could get my own version of Sage via the Bookkeepers Club as I can't afford to pay for it all at once and I understand that I can pay monthly this way.

Will it be easy enough for me to transfer the Sage data between my computer and my clients computer.  My clients version is a couple of years old, will my new version be compatible?

Terri

Your version will be compatible but then you wont be able to transfer the data back! You could always use something like Logmein to get access to his computer and work that way? Or put it all on a laptop? Does anyone else use the system, as you could have a problem with data input etc

There would only be me updating Sage but it isn't going to work if I can't transfer the data back.

I'm glad that I checked before I purchased Sage

Thank you

I will have a look into Logmein

Sorry to jump in on your thread Terri, but does anyone know if you can restore data from Sage 50 to Sage instant if they are the same version? I know you can do it vice versa.

Many thanks

Thank you for that. Like Terri I wanted to do some work from home for my client but needed to make sure it would work first.

I contacted Sage today about the Bookkkeeper's club option it's £425+vat which includes 5 licenses but not payroll (that's extra). He did mention that I need to provide them with 3 things before they could send me the software:
1 - ID
2 - Business Letterhead
3 - Proof of profession

He emailed this information across to me, but I wasn't such what would be classed as proof of profession, i'm guessing that Sage want to see certificates etc... does any one know if it is certificates that they require?

Thanks

Hi Ann-Marie,

That's interesting. When I ordered the Sage Professional Bookkeepers' Club package for Accounts and Payroll in June I was asked to provide the following documents:

1. Passport or driving licence
2. Company headed paper or invoice
3. Utility bill

I faxed copies of these documents to Sage. They also carry out a credit control check.

I am not sure about 'proof of profession' - have Sage changed procedures to verify potential customers?

Regards

Peter

Hi Peter.

I'm not sure, sounds like they may have changed there procedures. I'm going to try and give them a call in a bit so I'll let you know how I get on...

I can't remember what they wanted when I joined - it was sooo long ago, sorry! But I'm sure it was just proof of ID and letterhead.

Hi, I have recently joined and was asked for proof of profession. I asked how I did this and was advised just to email them confirm that I provide bookeeping services. My email showed my company and website details which was enough for them to send me the software.

Hi Julie,

That's interesting, I didn't have the time to speak to Sage today to check with them, but sending an email is simple enough.

Are you finding the sage bookkeeping club useful? do you think that it is good value for money?

Hi Ann-marie,

Yes I think its the cheapest way of getting Sage accounts and Payroll with multi licences. I am not sure what other benefits I can get from the bookkeeping club but I have had to call them a couple of times when transferring software over to a new laptop and they were really helpful.

Time for an update on the Sage Bookkeepers club. I had to sent the following to Sage in the end:

* ID
* Headed Paper
* Proof of profession (I sent my AAT qualification certificate)
* Utility Bill

Spoke to Sage today and it should be with me within 3-4 working days - So i'm really pleased i've finally got it sorted.
