Hi, i just wanted to say hello, i am new here. i have been training as a book keeper for 2 years now. i have done city & guilds level 1 & 2 and also done the hlc level 1 & 2 and have just getting my associate membership from ICB. I am in the process of setting up by myself. I have my 1st client (!!! scary!!) I have no experience fresh off the page and find it all scary. I have done the normal writing to accountants or bookkeepers who might need a little help just to gain a little bit of experience, but as soon as i say i have children, they run a mile. Being waiting for about 3 months now and still no response, i have followed up my letters but they say they will ring me back but they dont, so i am doing it myself any advice or tips would be brilliant thank you inadvance chrissy
Welcome to the forum, it's a very friendly and knowledgeable site, someone is always willing to help.
It sounds like you have made a good start, although you haven't had any positive feedback yet, but keep going. Your first client will hopefully recommend you on to others.
Have you tried volunteering your services to gain experience?
Also, perhaps try a google search of your area for opportunites to go to networking events. Some can be expensive, but not all of them are.
I would second Angela's comment about networking events. It's all about who you know and meeting different people who could then maybe recommend you to others.
Also, tell everyone what you do - friends, family, neighbours, school mums - you never know who knows someone that needs a bookkeeper.
