Just wanted to wish everyone taking their ICB manual exams tomorrow loads of luck. Hope that you all get the type of paper that you're hoping for.... No, you can't have one with the answers already filled in!

Good luck people, you'll all be fine.

Shaun.

Well there's a story.

I should be sitting it in Nottingham but Home Learning College screwed up and didn't pass on my application in December. This resulted in me missing the deadline and a *jobsworth I spoke to at the ICB said there was no way it could be resolved.

So, between threatening HLC that I'd demand a full refund if they didn't resolve it, their begging the ICB to allow me to sit and me saying that of course I was willing to travel, I ended up getting a place in Birmingham.

That's the value added service you get when you pay inflated HLC prices (I can't seem to find the sarcasm symbol on this keyboard).

Cheers

Neil

*Obviously it could be resolved because it was. I hope my life never depends on someone with this attitude.

There are much worse places than Brum that they could have put you.

Whilst in our lovely city (where the sun always shines and the people are always happy) call in at the big Waterstones at the bottom of the ramp from new street station. On the second floor there's a smallish accountancy section but they do stock AAT / CAT / ACCA study texts so worth a browse if you're interested.

From June this year the problems with the centres disappear. It's going up from a couple of dozen to 1600 centres around the country. Also there won't be set sittings anymore and you should be able to go in at a time to suite you and get your results on the way out.

Actually, after saying that there are much worse places that you can be than Brum the ACCA put us in the new Bingley hall in Hockley (as twinned with Basra) on the outskirts of Brum for the December sitting. Felt like an army surplus flack jacket wouldn't have gone amiss for that area!

Isn't there an ICB exam center in Newark? (I come from over that way myself many moons back). If there's a driving test theory center there then there will be an exam center from June as it's the bods who do the theory tests that are going to be running the ICB exams.

cheers,

Shaun.

Hi Shaun

There may be a centre in Newark or possibly Lincoln. What I've not been letting on is that I'm sitting in Edgbaston right now. I work at the University. I've visited Waterstones a few times, actually. It's a nice branch.

And I think Birmingham's just fine. I lived in Harborne until I met my missus.

Cheers

Just remember to take your ICB membership card with you!

Good luck

Shaun.
