Hello Everyone, This is my first posting to this forum and I'm relativley new to all this. I've just finished level 2 with ICB and am waiting for my results. I want to sit level 3 but I can't afford to do it through HLC and they are too expensive. Can this be done without a training provider, ie are there any books which can be used as self study... I have just brought Business Accounts by David Cox which looks very good but don't know if this covers everything in level 3 I need. I will purchase some past papers as well as I found this invaluable with level 2. I also want to do the selfassesment exam and have asked HMRC for the self assesment guide but am not hopeful I will get it as I'm not an agent! The payroll exam is also another one but likewise not sure how to go about this as well. Any advice from anyone who has done these exams would be greatly received... Just wanted to add that I'm really enjoying it as well...... I worked in accounts for 5 years but left 10 years ago and haven't done it since... I'm really enjoying the studying and if I make a mistake on a trial balance or such like I love trying to find the error... how sad am I!! anyway, hopefully speak to some of you soon bye for now AnneMarie
your not sad at all. Still gives me a thrill when a balance sheet does!
The fact that you love it means that you will succeed. Those who do this for financial gain generally end up doing something else. And those who love it end up eventually with the financial gain.
I see that you've already got the David Cox book. Read that one before buying any more otherwise it's easy to end up with input overload.
When you've nearly finished let me know and I'll guide you through some other books that you may find useful.
Rather than pay for too many ICB exams why not just download the CAT exams from the ACCA website for free. If you can do those then you can do the ICB level III.
You still need to buy at least one past ICB level III paper though to get you into the question style. Make it a recent one as from what I can make out the style and difficulty levels of the ICB papers are changing.
Bob.
ATT is the association of Tax Technicians and they come a bit further up the food chain.
AAT are the books that you need.
AAT covers everything that is required for ICB plus some. The knack is trying to miss out buying the plus some books.
Kind regards,
Shaun.
