If a student does all the Bookkeeping courses  ...
Manual   I, II, III   and  Computerised  II, III  ...
would it be necessary to do the  SAGE Certification course ?

I'm actually saying  -   if you do the ICB (or IAB) Computerised Bookkeeping,
do you NEED to do the SAGE certification course ?

Why do both  (apart from having another piece of paper to your name)  ?

Bob.

You don't NEED to do the Sage certification but it might help in finding a job as more employers have heard of Sage certification than have heard of the ICB exams.

Sage certification tests knowledge of Sage. The ICB qualifications test your knowledge of applying sage to a bookkeeping scenario. So really both coming at things from different angles.

Note that level III sage tests knowledge of Sage well beyond the ICB sylabus (tests foreign trading, stock control, bill of materials, etc).

I notice a couple of empty messages in this thread... Did I miss some now deleted verbal fisty cuffs????

Darn it. Spend half my life on the site and when something kicks off I'm not around (lol).

Hi Sue, hows life?

I know that you've done the equivalent of ICB and the Sage certification (we had the conversation in another thread) and got work through the Sage which really answers Bobs question as to whether it's necessary to take or not.

My stance would be that whilst you don't need to take it you should if you want to work for someone else... Then again, if you want to work for someone else you should probably be taking AAT rather than ICB but that's just my opinion.

Talk soon,

Shaun.

No.     Duplicated the message when I actually wanted to 'quote'.
Could not find a way to DELETE the message, so edited it blank.

Thanks for clarifying what is in the SAGE certification.

Evening Bob.

And here was me thinking that I was the only nocturnal one on the site.

Just finishing off studying FRS3 before turning in for the night (what a fun life I lead!).
