My questions for today are,

Subsistence, would this cover both partners hotel expenses when going on a business trip? confuse

And,

Winning awards is a good thing for their business, they enter a couple of high profile competitions a year and advertise the fact that they have won (when they do which is almost a given smile), and this promotes their business and generates interest.
Could the cost of entering a competition with this in mind (although it's not a high cost it's still enough) be put as an expense either with advertising or a general expense or should they be bearing the cost themselves?

Regards

Steve

I would post hotel costs to 'hotel costs' and leave the subsistence costs for food. If you are using Sage there is a n/l code for hotels (I think 7403?...not at the office so can't check!), otherwise you may want to open a 'travelling and subsistence' account.

I would definitely allow the expenditure for entering the competitions and post under 'promotion'

Had a look and 7403 is uk entertainment so I shall open an account underneath that and we have a promotions account (after looking .... doh) but at the moment it's sat in direct expenses with advertising so I shall use that as well.

Thanks for your time Robney your a good man biggrin
