I am going to a working interview for a charity organisation. They are on sage which I have experience with. I have never done a charity before though always partnerships, sole trader any tips? Tony
Charities need to manage restricted funds, i.e. money donated for a specific purpose.
Sage provides functionality to do this, but some people simply use departments to manage the restricted funds. I've done both methods, and both work.
Also, be wary of VAT. If the charity is VAT registered, then you need to carefully understand what can be claimed and what cannot. You will need to read the HMRC guidance on VAT for charities, it is quite complex.
Another excellent post from Liz (welcome to the forum by the way).
ignoring my dubious answer also have a look at http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=106474&p=3&topicID=33728924 where a similar question was asked.
Good look with the interview matey.
Shaun.
