Hi Everyone,

Well I have finally sent my registration off to HMRC was planning on doing it in June when my exams are finished but decided to do it now.

I started a job recently and although im lucky to have a job im not really enjoying it and decided to get the ball rolling on my bookkeeping.

Im going to be using sage for the accounts and have 12pay for payroll but was wondering what to use for CIS for contractors?

The other thing was stationery etc was thinking of using Vistaprint as have heard good things, im looking for glossy postcard type things to go in shop windows and a stationery pack to get me started.

Oh and there is also designing a logo to consider.

Any advice or recommendations would be great

Michelle

I have used Vista print on several occasions, I think they are good quality but low in cost, I have heard bad things about them, but nothing bad has happened to me. I heard someone saying that once they bought something from them then vistaprint carried on taking funds from their bank ac, but as I said this hasn't happened to me personally, and I have used them the other day to purchased some new business cards.

If you go down the Vistaprint route, then I would suggest paying a bit more for the better quality cards. I beleive the free business cards say "free from Vistaprint", or similar, on them and it doesn't provide a very professional image.

If you have designed your logo yourself, consider how it would look in different formats. For example, does it look just as good on a business card as it does on a letterhead and how does it look on your website? If you are shelling out money for letterheads, business cards etc it's often well worth paying a professional designer to design your logo in the correct formats.

Hope that helps!

i have purchased the vistaprint ones that you pay for, I think the same as you, I didn't want the free from vistaprint written on the back.

I have also included the aat logo and my license wording and no. at the bottom of the card, and have chosen a good design, designed for accountants. Can't wait for them to come and then I will be able to start handing them out.

Hi,

Am going to have a good look at the vista print website I do not want the Free from Vista print on them. Im going to get the post card size and business card size. Has anyone tried their business stationary start up pack, was wondering about the quality of the paper??

Have heard back from HMRC and they say they have up 48days to complete my registration so all good so far.

Thank for all your great input

Michelle
