Congratulations Lorraine, we are now four!

I think at 5000 you are called 'Shaun'!

Hi all,

We though it would be useful to clarify the membership titles for the forum, together with the new associated images:

Up to 4 posts = Newbie (Red Tick)

Over 5 posts = Member (Black Tick)

Over 25 posts = Veteran Member (Gold Star)

Over 100 posts = Senior Member (Red Star)

Over 500 posts = Guru (Circled Star)

Over 1500 posts = Expert (Medal)

Over 2500 posts = Master Book-keeper (Coin)

Kind regards,

Hi Bill,

I just keep checking in during flying visits today.

When I get to 1500 it's the Avatar is definitely going to be changing to Mutley (medal, medal, medal) in line with the new associated images.

And Loraine, sorry, must have hit delete end of sentence when I posted last time. Welcome to our select little club. Next group meeting of our select little band is in St. Lucia. Don't forget to bring your snorkel and flippers. (Whats the betting that we now get 192 posts from Sheila this evening!).

Talk later,

Shaun.

no, I can't stay away from this forum. Although I am pretty busy at the mo, I worked all day today on a bag of receipts to get them to P & l and balance sheet format, and now I am bloody knackered!. But pleased that I have plenty of work at the moment to the stage where, I have a bit of a back log! But it is managable.

Hi All

I have just noticed that Sean has 1500 posts so is now an Expert - Congratulations on your medal Sean. In this case the title is rightly deserved as Sean has helped countless people on here with his vast knowledge and has been an expert since joining.

I am however, worried that someone could theoretically, come on here, post on lots of different threads with inaccurate information but get the title of Expert just for the sheer volume of posts.

Does anyone else think there could be an issue with this and that it could potentially be dangerous for newbies coming on here following the advice of an 'Expert' who may actually be giving misleading or incorrect information?

Would it be better to have a different title?

Kind regards

Zöe

Hi Zoe,

I see what you are saying but personally don't think there could be an issue.

I find in general that when advice is given on here other people will agree or add a slight variation.  So, I think if inaccurate advice was given it would be very quickly picked up on and disagreed with, and if it was continually happening, my hope would be that the adminstrator would step in.

Hi All,

can't remember which post it was but we touched on this before that you could actually become an expert by asking 1500 questions! (think that I was chatting with Rob but don't quote me on that)

Thanks for the vote of confidence Zoe but I must admit to a fair number of silly exchanges with Rob and Bill over the months that took my numbers up.

At the end of the day even without the titles we all know on here who the experts are and it doesn't really matter if you have 10 posts or 10,000, it's what you put in them that counts.

I've made a few mistakes myself (forgetting AIA in one post comes to mind!) but as you say if anyone misses anything someone will always point it out and it's done without malice which can't be said of some of the other sites for finance professionals.

Looks as though the gig in Edinburgh will be lasting now until at least Xmas so may take me a while to get that master bookkeeper title.

Hope that you're all keeping well and talk soon,

Shaun.

Not a bad time of year to be stuck in Edinburgh.

Hi Peasie,

I don't know, felt as though a machette might have come in handy to get through the crowds when I was trying to get back to my car on Friday.

Thankfully I've got a hotel price for the whole contract as if I were turning up looking for a room now they're basically multiplying the normal hotel room prices by their shoe sizes!

Apparently there are 22,000 acts at the fringe this year... 22,000 acts! How many punters must there be here then!!!

And there goes a good example of a post that took up my numbers and was nothing at all to do with bookkeeping....

Depreciation... Nothing at all to do with the post but just thought best to use at least one accountancy term! lol.

Right, now do I not sign just to make a point from the other post!...

You'll find her here  http://www.book-keepers.org.uk/forum.spark?aBID=106474&p=3&topicID=37372758

Good to have you back, albiet temporary. It's already upped my count by one.

And another to up my count whilst being irrelevant to book-keeping!!!!!

I love Edinburgh during the festival although I missed it the last year and this due to circumstances beyond my control. A "cheap" way for accommodation is caravan, that's the way we do it, the caravan club site has a bus stop right outside and for £5 a day you can ride around on the Lothian buses to your heart's content which saves walking when you want to go to venues that are quite a distance from one another without having to hike backwards and forwards.

Hi Bill, Hi Sheila,

job done with sylabus rider Bill with a little note at the bottom for the ICB to ponder.

Regular incomes always welcome in the current market although could do with it being a bit closer to my boy.

Cheers for the pointers on Lothian buses Sheila although to be honest I've purposfully got a hotel on the opposit side of Edinburgh to my work to force myself to do a bit of excercise. (2.8 miles each way per day) half a stone gone so far but goodness knows from where... Feels like from between my ears!

Just going to check the other messags,

Talk soon,

Shaun.
