Payroll Service

Hi all

I am looking to offer a payroll service in the next few months.

Just wandering how you price your payroll clients.

Do you charge say a weekly amount for the payroll processing and then charge to complete P35 etc, or do you charge an amount per employee etc

Will be using sage payroll, would like to eventually advertise on my website and get clients that way.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi

Welcome to the world of payroll.

I have 5 payroll clients at the moment, using Sage. I charge a fixed price per payslip provided with a minimum fee for each pay run. I supply all payslips and any reports that the client requires electronically and if they would want anything printed they would have to ay extra for it (though non have asked yet). For the year end I charged the same fixed price but this time it was for each P60 produced, so in effect the client is charged for 13 monthly pay runs.

For calculating how much to charge I would do some research as this can vary quite dramatically between large and small firms.

I don't charge for starters or leavers, though many firms do.

Good luck with it, I find it to be quite profitable when calculated against my hourly rate for bookkeeping and other services.

I will add anything else as soon as I think of it, but just off to do a pay run now

Regards

Mark

One of my clients outsources the payroll to their accountant they charge £100 + VAT per quarter for producing fluctuating between 12 and 15 per month. They do not charge any extra for filing on line and producing P60s. The just do the payroll though they don't record holidays.
