cis tax question
Permalink Closed

Hi Everyone hope you are all well on this sunny morning..
I was hoping someone would explain the process of entering cis tax, i have a client who is builder and he pays the cis tax on some not all of his subcontractors.
I am very confused about how to enter it. I understand that i enter them as a purchase but when i come to pay for this i get lost.  From what i have read on this site you have to do a credit note this is where i get confused!! could someone maybe put it in simple terms for me lol
Also when i am on the subject of cis tax, i have read that the cis tax is used mostly for people who work in or around the constustion field, i have a client who is self employed and he gets most of his work through one company.  My client came to me the other day and said that this company had said that they might be taking the cis tax off him.  My worry is this company is mostly handy work they dont do building they just maybe go in and do some finishing off work, but sometimes work is just done on everyday homes eg fixing a fence! so to me wont require the use the cis tax.  I do know that in some situations the cis tax is required, but when i was reading the hmrc website didnt really say that it was for the use of handy man! hope i have explained that right!! any help and someone elses opinon on this matter would be good.
Cheers
Chrissy
