Self Employed Roofer

Hi
Can anyone clarify this for me.
A Self employed roofer who works under the CIS scheme but also does jobs of his own.
when filling in the sa tax return on his self employment, can he put down the cost of materials for the jobs he does under his own steam as expenses and just pay tax on the wage he gets for these jobs..
obviously on the CIS ones he has already paid tax and does not claim expenses on these as his contractor pays out for these..
hope that makes sense

Not 100% sure what you mean by a "wage" from the jobs he does himself but:

Declare all income received as a subcontractor (the cis scheme jobs),

Declare the tax deducted at source on these cis jobs,

Declare all the income from your other self employment jobs and declare the allowable expenses in relation to these jobs. So at the end of the day you will be disclosing and paying tax on your profit on these non cis jobs in the tax year.

So you question was can you put down the materials etc for the non cis job. Yes you can.

Hope that helps. If you need more details feel free to post and i'll pick it up at teh w/e or someone else will reply.
