Furnished Holiday Let as a trade
Permalink Closed

I don't know I seem to be doubting myself at every turn at the moment - so thought best to ask a question than ponder it for days.

I have a client who has a furnished holiday let (annex to their own home) for which they also provides some meals, HMRC have advised that it can be classed as a trade.  They also have one room in their home which is used for B&B.  As the furnished holiday let is allowable as a trade is it ok to link this with the B&B as one business?

Hi Jane,

I don't see a problem in merging the two. From memory there are a few things you need to know about furnished holiday lets, like they have to be open between April and October and must be let for a certain number of weeks per year. But it was a long time ago that I looked at this!

Thanks Rob

It is open for the time required so that is ok.  So as a trade the business can be put through as self employed earnings?  Is that right

Jane
