I have just taken a one off job to get someone's P11d's done for them and just want a bit of help with the vehicle values.
They purchased a couple of used cars during the year and for the P11d you need the list price for the vehicle. So would it be ok to use the current copy of Parkers Car Price Guide which lists the new value for the vehicle when it was registered as a new one.
I have just looked at the HMRC booklet 480 and am basing my assumption that to use this guide would be correct 'as this price would be the notional price which might reasonably have been expected to be its list price .....'
Using Parkers is acceptable, or even Glass's guide, but Glass's is harder to get hold of and usually have to pay for it. Just make sure you get the correct model and always print off the page with the info on and put in the Vehicle file so if ever disputed, you can provide the documents you have used to get the list price.
If the vehicles are relatively new, you can always try a local dealer for that make of vehicle. I have done this many time during my stint in practice and the Inland Revenue have never once disputed the list price used from Parkers.
