Some people prefer college, personally I'm doing the next level at home, not really heard much about the online teaching ( I think they do live sessions ) so can't really comment.

If you want to do AAT course in Uk then ---------------- (#1) will always be best option for you.

#1 Institution reference removed by moderator for incorrectly stating that such was the best without appropriate corroborative evidence

I beg to differ Anna.

Your best bet for online study is Kaplan Financial Magdalena, however, online courses can be quite expensive. Distance learning with a good Training provider

is the way to go if you was to study from home. The training provider will offer you all the back up and support you need.

For distance learning courses (Home study) i would telephone and have a chat with Premier Training and Eagle Education.

Anna.

much as we all appreciate your honest, unbiased opinions about your business... The best... Really?

On what basis?

As indicated by Neil above, unless you are the only provider you cannot state categorically that you are the best in all instances.

As indicated by Steve, Kaplan, BPP and Premier are all front runners in this category and unlike your institution all provide distance learning sollutions.

Maybe a better option for you would be to emphasise the apprenticeships that you have available and whether those are real positions for all students or something that only one or two may have access to.

So, a better approach would be to change your post from its current form to :

"Study AAT with guaranteed work placement in genuine working accountancy practices"

If of course you can guarantee that and if you cannot (#1) then without further veifiable information you are only another college offering AAT courses and cannot state that you are the best.

regards,

Shaun.

#1 the approach of some colleges to have simulated work environments is not the same as being a salaried trainee working in a real practice.

Hi,

I think the distinction between online and traditional learning providers are blurring.  For example, here you can access all your study material and assignments online, and we aren't the only ones who do this.  We are also offering on demand video support as well as the traditional phone support etc.  Lots of distance learning colleges are bringing their

Which brings me to slightly related point, i have been tasked with improving our online offerings, and i was wondering if people could give me their honest opinions on a project of mine.  It is a bit of WIP, it was shot just a small video camera, so the quality is not excellent, but it is just a bit of a proof of concept,  (also bear in mind there wasnt a script and i ad libbed the lot).  I have my green screen and HD camera on order!

Do you think it is actually beneficial or is it a bit of a gimmick?

Also if i live in Scarborough, would WLVTC still be the best option for me?

The only difference i noticed between online and distance learning with Kaplan was the online had access to live and pre-recorded classroom lessons. Everything else was pretty much the same apart from around £2000 price difference lol.

Will check out your link tonight Nick when i am not using my Phone tethered to a laptop (during working hours) and have proper internet speeds.

Watch this space, I have another project in the pipeline which will be even better than live online lectures, as these only allow you take part at set times, studying set subjects.  Where as something i am working on will combine the social aspect of college, but with the flexibility of distance learning of studying what you want, when you want.

I am just waiting to move offices when we get our 100mb broadband connection!

I would work for Premier for free just to have access to 100mb.

I've been considering the amount of students lost to training providers because they believe that they would not progress unless studying in a classroom environment.

I think you may be in for some exciting times Nick. If you ever need someone pretty and photogenic email me lol.

That's quite alright Nick as i may have embellished my description somewhat.

Had a play with your video last night, there is loads of potential. Quite enjoyable and the final product will be an excellent addition to study material for students.

Neil.

Edited because i'm having a bad morning and saying most things twice. Looks like a tin of roses and tv day is the only cure.

Hi Neil,

Don't give my boss ideas!

Whilst our course advisors are pretty and photogenic, from what i can see from my desk, being pretty and photogenic isnt a requirement for a tutor!

It's quite interesting the number of customers that enquire now and ask for online learning but they actually mean learning where I don't have to attend a classroom! As Nick said, there appears to be some blurring. Home study in any form is a growing market due to it's flexibility. It's surprising how many people's preference turns out not to be online learning too! We've had a number of students join us who have come from an online learning environment. Not just due to cost, but because it doesn't necessarily suit their individual learning preferences. Choice is amazing but also confusing for people these days. It's quite a fascinating topic actually :) E.g. I feel it necessary to have the latest mobile, but actually I haven't got a flippen clue how to use the damn thing lol
