Got a question regarding Payroll if anyone can help.
When a P46 is issued the employer signs statement A,B or C, so my question is how do you know which box to sign or does it really matter as long as HMRC is informed and you keep an appropriate record.?
Just starting to study payroll and boy is it a nusiance to read the tables on screen - can I get a hard copy off hmrc - I'm too much of a cheapskate to print it all out
Thanks for any pointers.

Responses are intended as outline only. Formal advice should be sort from your Institutes Technical Department or a suitably qualified Accountant.
An employer would check box a, b or c dependant upon the answers given by the employee on page 1 of the P46 in the box titled Your present circumstances.
You should be able to get the tables from the HMRC orderline
It is the employee that fills in the form, the employer uses the information that the employee has signed.
If they have not ticked any boxes you should use BR.
It may help you to download from the HMRC website a P46 as the boxes are self explanatory. You can also download or order many forms & leaflets from them which will help you in your study. The CD Rom is pretty good and will have most of the same forms.
