Now this is my dilema, I have been slowly working on starting my self employment route since this year and have been making some progress with obtaining all the required documents I need and working on a brand and so on and so forth. Now this is my dilema I have been given a payrise at work but it comes at knwing I have to work even harder at my job. I was hoping to work part time but they thought that meant leaving as to why I have had this. Now I want to start working selfemployed but worried about my financial future as dont want to leave my job without having enough clients to sustain me but then I will be leaving a decent paid job not knowing if I will make it on own. I know there is loads of bookkeeprs out there so plenty of competition. Just need some advice as to how to work with this as need the time to work on business but not getting it by parttime route so do I stay or do i go??
I can't think of a better way to start up your own biz than growing it as a sideline while in well paid steady employment. From what I see, hear and read, in the current economic climate, a good job is gold and not something to give up lightly.
Of course it is a decision only you can make but if I were in your shoes, I would keep both going until my own biz was taking off and I really couldn't do both any more. Who knows, if your employer suffers economic hardship in the near future, they may ask for volunteers to go part-time and you would be well placed to take advantage of that.
