In Sage 2011 I am creating remittances. I intend to design my own template but thought it best to start with the Sage provided templates as a base, namely REMITA4.layout.
Why is it that when I edit that template there are a number of white areas which can not be selected/moved/deleted (e.g. the white box with with the recipents account number and address)? Same with some text boxes (e.g. the text "REMITANCE ADVICE").
Have not had a look but I would say that it may be because they are designed to be printed on the standard forms so things like address etc need to be in that position, whereas other text and figures can be changed and moved around as you so wish.
If you wanted to really create your own, I woudl imagine you would have to start from scratch and not modify an existing template.
I believe there is a template attached to Sage's own reports. Look in the properties section under appearance and you may see a template listed (****.template). Changing or deleting this will hopefully solve your problem.
Debs - you are spot on - removing the template name removes all the non-edittable template fields.
BackOfficeGroup - this makes sense, no doubt using the templates ensures your reports are compatible with Sage preprinted paper.
Final question - how does Sage know that a report is for a specific thing? That is - how does Sage know my report is a remittance advice and so should allow it to be chosen when printing remittances?
I think I have solved it. I'm not sure how Sage knows, but when you try and create a new report you are asked what type of report it is. Sage must work some magic somewhere at that point. :D
