i wanted know whethaer Mobile topup voucher is vatable expenses???? since there is no any vat registration number or vat amount seperatley in these voucher. plz help me on that to do my first book keeping'
general rule is that if there's no VAT invoice then the VAT is not reclaimable.
Also, is the voucher for a mobile available wholly, necessarily and exclusively to the business?
Without a call record such may be difficult to prove and you could find that the expense is not allowable at all against the business.
I would advise your client to consider a contract line through their company and ensure that the record of calls clearly shows that they are all business related.
Either that or the phones a perquisite for which there will be personal tax implications.

I would say top up voucher would be standard rate VAT because it is the same as paying for telephone calls.
Of course it matters whether or not the business from which the receipt is from is VAT registered or not. If the business selling the top up is not registered then VAT cannot be reclaimed and should not be included.
