Any help would be appreciated on this please - I'm a recent modern languages graduate who wants a career in accountancy. I passed the Sage exams and the first two ACCA exams, so thought I'd have a decent chance of getting onto a graduate scheme. After 50-odd applications and four interviews, three of which never replied to me either way, it seems I was wrong. So I thought if I did a bookkeeping qualification like City and Guilds or something I'd be able to get in the industry as a bookkeeper and work my way up. I live in London so supposedly there are enough jobs out there. Does it work that way/is City and Guilds respected?
I'm in a similar situation, everyone seem to want experience. I've been told that I should look for voluntary work to build up my experience, but I work (in a non-accountancy based job) and study part time so i can't physically do it.
