PAYE tax grab

Hi

Has anyone dealt with these PAYE notices to get the tax underpaid back that is in the news currently?

I have a guy whose calc is for 2009-10, so guessing there is no way of trying to get it recinded?

Uk business forums have a good section on that under Paye letters. It is being run by volunteers from that forum.

I gave an employee of 1 of my clients the helpline number the other day as she received a letter saying about £1900 tax to pay. In the last 12 months alone she has had her tax code changed 3 times. Feel so sorry for her she does have a pension but only earns about 2500 per year.

I've only had one so far. HMRC issued him with the wrong code for last year (before he was my client), so now they'd quite like him to pay the tax he should have paid if they'd got it right in the first place...

I've now read the letters sent.

The calculations they have used is using the standard code for the year, the tax code actually used was lower due to P11D's, and the figures are just wrong!!

Incompetence comes to mind.

I've had one for a little over £300 to pay back. I sent HMRC a letter of behalf of my client asking them to write it off. I'll let you know when I've had a response !!
