Hi All, Can anyone recommend a good VAT course. I have leant over the years from what other people (and VAT inspectors) have passed on, but I would like to try a course. I've gone on a few i day courses but they never cover the basic day to day issues. Any suggestions gratefuly received.
Having been on one in the past I can vouch for semsley's sound advice. VAT is a huge subject, but for the average micro business (eg. 1 person, no export/import, £100k turnover, not an auction house or car trader) it is really simple, and the HMRC courses will tell you all you need to know.
Hi there, I have just signed up to to a VAT diploma course with Tolley Tax Training, you also have to sign up to be a student for the IIT (institute of indirect taxation) just received material very good, so maybe worth a look for you.
I agree that the HMRC is probably the best place to look in order to get an unbiased perspective. It is also my experience that many VAT training courses do not emphasise the day to day practicalities of VAT in your own business. This is really unfortunate as it is what most people want from a VAT training course.
