Sage self study

Hi

I have passed ICB level 1&2 manual bookkeeping through home study courses and would now like to do level 2 computerised.  I have been given a sage instant accounts self study pack with a 180 day trial version and 6 workbooks by a friend.  Can anyone let me know if this will be enough to learn and get me through the exam or will I need to sign up for a home study course. I am motivated with home study and have a good understanding of the bookeeping principles having passed my manual exams and wanted to avoind paying a course provider if this is enough to get me through by myself!!!  then would only have to pay the ICB exam fee which I believe is £25 for an online exam.

Any comments welcome.

Thanks, Jacky

Hi Jacky,

Yes that should be fine, many people are doing it this way after completing the manual side.

You might also want to try Sage for Dummies (not suggesting your a dummy) as members have said it is quite useful. You can find it on Amazon here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sage-Accounts-Dummies-Revised-2010/dp/0470715588/ref=pd_sim_b_2

Hi James

Thanks for your reply. No offence taken with the dummy comment, A couple of people have recommended it on here in other posts so will put it on my Xmas list!. Just wanted to make sure a trial version of instant accounts would be acceptable to get through the ICB exam. I had been quoted £360 to use a course provider to do a top up course for computerised exam so my freebie study kit and a £25 exam fee is much more appealing!!

Thanks
Jacky

Hi ES,

You might need extra knowledge on Payrol law as the ICB exam also covers a practical side.

Does the Sage Self Study include that?

James

Honestly can't say that I looked at what the Sage manual said regarding the law but it did have bits in it. I guess if you hadn't a clue on what you were doing then you might struggle.
