I own and operate a small bookkeeping office but all of my clients are local. We have a new client who is located in another state and wishes to use our services via virtual desktop...
My question is, do any of you operate in this fashion and if so, what have you found works best to accommodate your client. Recently I have been looking into a company by the name of swizznet located in california...
The client will start with one location and have multiple locations in the future. Basically, the business will be camp grounds with a small retail store...
I have a few clients who utilize my services through virtual desktop. I use Logmein. The cool thing about is that they have a free plan that works well, if all you want is to be able to access your client's computer and work on their Quickbooks file. I think it is so much better than an online hosting option.
The only negative is this: If your client shuts down their computer, you cannot access it to work on their books.
I guess it depends on the arrangement you have with your clients (when your working hours are and so on).
I too use Log Me In but the professional one, both yourself and the client must use this, but you can access and print from the host computer (great for reports and bank reconciliations!)

Remember that using Log me in, allows access to their whole computer and renders in unusable at their end while you are logged in. Confidentiality is the key, do NOT view any other data on the computer other that the bookkeeping file you are working in. Could lead to legal ramifications.
