What type of software for personal and small business use thats free
Permalink Closed

Hi,  I am currently free lance bookkeeping for a local company, aswell as editing for a magazine and supplying my area with the local avon books.

I have always used Sage for bookkeeping, but wondered if there was anything else out there free that would allow me to put my expenses in, send an invoice or two out and then assist with my personal tax at the end of the year.

I will also have someone elses personal tax to do, so really would need to keep their expenses etc aswell.

I have seen a few free softwares to download, but wondered what was the best as I would rather keep Sage at work and use something slightly friendlier for myself.

Thanks

Hi

I am fan of VT for among other things, it's simplicity. Unfortunately the free version (VT Cash Book) does not print an invoice.

I think probably the next one would be Quick Books SimpleStart free edition. It's similar to Sage, slightly easier to use (IMO) but the the free edition does have some limitations. It is multi company, and available as a download from the QB site.

HTH
