What can I do after I finish ICB course
Permalink Closed

Hi everyone

I just become unemployment this month as the customer service, now I decide to change my career path to accounting industry, so I decide to do this ICB bookkeeping course at first, at least, it is affordable and not that difficult.

So I just wondering what can I do after I finish this course, what kind of job I can be looking for, it seems nowaday if you don't have experience, then you can not get into to the business, so what should I do?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

ICB isnt the best qualification to be doing if you are looking for employment or as a path into accountancy. The ICB and IAB are best for self employed book keepers.

If you want to be employed and to go into accountancy you would be best to do the AAT. This is more widely known and recognised than either the IAB or ICB and it gets you exemptions from the big accountancy bodies scuh as ACCA, ACA and CIMA. Although you do get some exemptions from these bodies from IAB.

It depends how far you want to go and how long you are prepared to work for it. You can be qualied really quickly if you want to do ICB or IAB but then you are limited in what you want to do. If you want to be quickly self employed and a book keeper that is probabaly the route to go down.

If you want employement and potential yo get into the accountancy industry maybe not.

Thanks for the reply, John.

I have another question, so can I start self employed just fresh after the ICB study finish, without any bookkeeping experience?

Does ICB has something to help the member.

Thanks.

Hi Segment,

Your can work self employed as long as you get to Level 2, you can then join as an Associate and take out a Practice License.

The ICB is here to help so you can email or call (probably best to call for career advice)

How far through your study are you?
