After a couple of posts I thought I'd best introduce myself to this excellent resource that you all have. My name is Dean and I'm from the North East. I was introduced to bookkeeping 14 years ago when I studied GCSE accounting. I then followed this up with A-Level Accounting and completed my AAT in 2002. I have worked in accounts departments of private and public sector and become dismayed with my direction.
In order to get back on track, I started a Foundation Degree in Accountancy and Management and finally gained my AAT Member status. I would like to become a home based bookkeeper and hope to start this up on a part time basis in August 2011 as I enjoy the bookkeeping aspect of accountancy and believe this will give me something to build upon. I am getting some hands on experience in the form of a family members sole-trading accounts and refreshing my knowledge. I have loads to learn and do by August, but I am looking forward to the challenge.
I have already had some excellent help from this site and hope to contribute when able. If anyone has any useful tips or would like any info surrounding qualifications, please give me a shout.
