Using Andica Software to fill in short self-assessment tax return
Permalink Closed

Hello Everyone,

I've just registered here because I have found your forum quite helpful while filling in my business return.

I wondered if any of you professionals out there could help me please.

I ran a small business from Sept 2006 til Nov 2009 when I ceased trading as it was non-profitable.

My accounts are quite simple and straight forward, no foreign income, no employees etc.

I have used Andica, and filled in the short return with all the info I believe is relevant.  But the status of the form says it's only 50% complete.  I really don't know what else I can tell them.

Is it OK to submit form as it is?

I appreciate this is a difficult question to answer without going into more detail, just wondered if anybody had similar dealings or experiences.

Would appreciate any advice offered.

Sincerely
Mel Gardiner

Hi Mel

Why dont you just use the HMRC online form for you tax return. You have to register and get a user ID but after that it is very easy to use.

Good luck

Hi Mel

I haven't use the personal version of Andica but am using the Partnership version, and that does much the same. I am pretty sure that the indicator, shows how much of the return has been completed. If you are not required to complete all the pages, then it show only the amount you have completed.

Thank you, your advice is appreciated. Will have a look at the online version, and compare to Andica. I have already registered and got IDs. I am only filling in the sort version on Andica - so maybe that is all that is required.

Hi Mel

I dont know how far you are with submitting your return but I submitted my partnership ones, and they all changed to 100% on submission.

An interesting point about using 3rd party software to submit partnership returns. You do not need to have registered as the clients agent. The system (HMRCs) will allow a "filing only" submission, without the need to be the clients agent. They just will not discuss any SA matters with you about the client.

I am considering getting the Ptnrsip version of Andica, and wondered how you found it to use?

First time I have used it, and I found it very simple. It's basically an electronic form, split into various sections, and more or less copies the paper version.

I didn't use it this year but if you also use the Andica, individual return (SA100 software), it can be linked to auto fill in the partnership data.

Only two things gave me concern. The first is that the partnership UTR cannot be amended once saved, so no room for a typo. The second, was when submitting online, the system polls the transmission until it gets through, which I found a bit disconcerting when it says "polling data" every few seconds for several minutes, I wasn't sure if things were working properly. It was, and everything did though OK.
