I have just completed the OU B190 intro to book keeping and accounts, which gives exemptions to IAB membership level.
I was looking in to doing the IAB Level 4 Diploma in Personal and Business Tax, but it has been discountinued, does any one know of any comparable courses out there?
The ICB L3 diploma looks similar, but I would have to complete a level 2 book keeping course with them first, if I have understood the entry requirements correctly.
Apparently lack of sufficient candidates caused the IAB to 'pull' this qualification - a pity as from the enquiries on this forum, there are plenty of potential students for such a qualification. I took the IAB level 4 at the first opportunity but was the only candidate sitting the exam at the London centre. The Federation of Tax Advisers has an associate qualification that closely parallels the defunct IAB diploma - Google for their website will give more details.
Yes the Level 2 is a requirement before you take the ICB SA, however, if you are recently qualified with the IAB (or other body) you might get exemptions from the examination.
Unfortunately the ICB only give exemption from Level 1 for the B190.
The Level 2 is centre based and is available weekdays 9-5, some weekends and some late afternoons, it depends on your local centre, but you can choose when to sit it based on availability.
Is it possible to study the L2 certificate in computerised book keeping, rather than the manual course? Looking at the syllabus, I think this would be more useful to me.
