Was it my imagination, but before when you clicked on a link on this forum did it not use to open a new tab or new browser window in old browsers? Most forums I use when you click on an external link it opens a new tab but this one uses the same tab. I know I can easily just drag the link up to where the tabs are - just curious if I imagined it on this forum..

it has to do with whether or not people set a target when they create a link - in the link creation window, the second option is "set target" - you can select open in new window or in existing window. It defaults to no target set, which i'm assuming is open in existing window... you can always just right click on the link and select open in new window/tab
I always set links to open in a new tab - it usually takes people to my site, whilst keeping this site here. The idea being that someone will not navigate away from my site as quickly!

I'm just that used to other forums automatically setting links to open in a new window I didn't realise on this forum it was up to the individual posting the link. Not so much didn't realise, more completely forgot the process of posting links.
