Sage Help URGENT Please!!!
Permalink Closed

I just received a back up from an Accountant for a new clients work and it has locked my Sage and I can't get in now.  The Accountants did not tell me their Version was different they said they had Sage 50 which I have and now I am quite stressed as Sage helpline is closed and we have tons of work to do for another client of mine tomorrow.  Slight panic!!  Does anyone know how to fix this problem or can only Sage do this?  This is a very BIG reason I never wanted to use Sage they make life so difficult to work with other programs.

Can anyone please help???

Thanks,
Mel.

Problems with Sage backups usually arise when different year versions are used. Sage is not backwards compatible so if you have say V12 and the backup is done is V16 you will have a problem. However if you have V16 your system can restore V12. Once a backup has been done on a newer version you're stuck. But I'm sure Sage will be able to sort it for a price!

Think I must have misread the problem.   If you can't access the system at all I would uninstall and reinstall the program see if that works.

HI Mel

When you say it is locked, do you get any message, or does it just freeze on the intial Sage splash screen?

I got it sorted. Thank you for your help. Apparently I just had to type "manager" into the box but as we are new to Sage I did not know this and Accountants never mentioned it!! Sage speak that I was unaware but now know. I was in such a panic. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times and the silly box kept coming up. Anyway, now i know.

Ahh yes the default user with no password. If you'd mentioned that we could have saved the call to Sage!!!
