Hi All,

Some advice please.  Will cut a long story short..... my ex husband to be has just gone through IVA.  Im trying to renew my PI and have been asked the question about family member being declared bankrupt or IVA against them.

Will not be able to divorce until IVA cleared (5 years) as we have property in joint names (this not part of IVA).

My concern now is that this will dramatically effect my business if I cannot get PI cover / or premiums are so high its not worth the hassle.

Has anyone gone through / knowledge of a similar predicament.

Thanks,

Julie

Sorry to hear you news Julie.

If I were you I would start by ringing my professinal body for advice. I have read of another forum that my own professional body allows you to continue practicing with an IVA but you must keep them informed at all times and that was a member personally going through the IVA.

Speak to the insurance companies and see what kind of prices they can offer you. Its alway best to have the cold hard facts, chances are it may not be as bad as you think. I do hope so for you anyway.

Good luck and dont be down hearted just attack this problem with gusto!!!
