Hi, for my teaching qualification I have to complete a 20 minute teaching session. My problem is my subject is Computerised Accounts (Sage) and the classroom does not have sage loaded. I can bring in my own laptop and plug into the over screen - no problem there but I have an audience that are non accounting people, with no idea of Sage. Big Question: Any ideas of a subject that can be interesting to a non accounts person AND that I can also get them to interact for a few minutes for the "hands on" experience -with no computer. I can use flash cards, multiple choice questions etc - and can generate these once have a subject to focus on.
any ideas would be most interesting. thanks

Personally if they are non-accounting people I would relate it to their real life, e.g going into a shop and making a purchase, then relating that to the various transactions in Sage, supplier invoice of the stock for the shop, their purchase of the item and entering it into the system, bank receipts, then maybe the overheads of the salesperson selling the item to them etc.
P&L = your wages less your expenditure (cr card bills, mortgage payments, household bills, etc..) BS = your house, investments, less your credit card bills, mortgage
Debtors = employer? Creditors = people you owe money to
Etc.., you get the idea!
It may be a useful way of demonstrating how to live within a budget, and possibly how Sage/spreadsheets could help.
a different way of looking at it, and as you state I could use the print outs as a demonstration of what sage is capable of. To get the audience to join in I could make them calculate the figures manually - thank you
